Kyle Robinson is in his 10th season as the director of basketball operations at ECU. He joined the Pirates’ coaching staff in 2010 after spending the previous three seasons in the same position at College of Charleston.
At College of Charleston, Robinson served under legendary coach Bobby Cremins and was a part of a Cougar program that won 27 games and made the 2009 South Conference Championship. During the 2010 season, Robinson was on then bench when the Cougars, led by Andrew Goudelock, upset No. 9 North Carolina. Goudelock finished his career as Charleston’s career leader in points and ranks third in Southern Conference history with 2,571. Goudelock was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 46th overall pick.
Robinson spent three seasons as a graduate assistant/manager to Jeff Lebo at Auburn after a year stint as assistant men’s basketball coach at Lincoln (Ill.) Christian College where the Preachers won a school-record 21 games en route to the school’s first Midwest Regional Championship. Lincoln Christian then advanced to the 2004 national semifinals.
Robinson began his career as an undergraduate at Gardner-Webb, where he was the head men’s basketball manager for four years (1999-2003). The Runnin’ Bulldogs were the 2000 South Atlantic Conference Champions and went on to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Robinson has worked numerous NCAA Division I team and individual camps in the Southeast and coached in YMCA summer leagues and youth recreational leagues.
The Clover, S.C., native earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Gardner-Webb in 2003. He was a member of the Dean’s List and a three-time selection to the President’s List. He also holds a master’s degree in sports administration from Auburn.
Robinson is married to the former Bobbie Holder of Winston-Salem, N.C. They are the parents of two sons, Samuel Chase and Lincoln Joseph, and a daughters, Olivia Hope. He is the co-founder and president for Aces for Autism, a local non-profit in Greenville serving children and families affected by autism.
