Alex Keddie was appointed as East Carolina University Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance on March 1, 2019.
Keddie has direct leadership and oversight of ECU's compliance program which includes risk management monitoring, preparing and submitting NCAA and American Athletic Conference waivers and appeals, investigating and submitting violations, while also reviewing and updating policies and procedures for ECU Athletics. As a member of the ECU Athletics’ Leadership Team, she also oversees the ECU NIL Taskforce and SABRE Program and serves as the sport administrator for two sport programs (Women’s Swimming and Diving and Women’s Lacrosse).
The appointment marks a return to the ECU campus for Keddie, who served two roles in the athletics compliance division beginning as a graduate assistant in 2012 before departing as the unit's compliance coordinator in 2015.
Keddie most recently was director of compliance at North Carolina since July 2018 where she was responsible for rules education and interpretation for all 28 varsity programs, the Rams Club, athletics department staff and other university officials. Additionally, she served as the secondary sport administrator for the Tar Heels men’s soccer program and was a member of the CARE (compliance, academics, registrar and eligibility) committee. Keddie also worked closely with the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) and the SAAC legislative committee at UNC to help develop NCAA proposals.
Prior to her move to Chapel Hill, Keddie headed Seton Hall's athletics compliance efforts from November, 2015 to June, 2018, first as assistant athletics director before earning a promotion to associate AD.
While with the Big East Conference member, she ensured the integrity of institutional control by creating policies/procedures and providing rules education for all SHU staff members and student-athletes. Keddie also coordinated bylaw interpretations, initial and continuing eligibility certifications, waivers and appeals, investigated reported violations and managed the department's special assistance fund (SAF). In addition, she worked with university leadership and the development program, and helped create the first Seton Hall Athletics Women’s Leadership Networking Night.
After receiving a bachelor's degree in business administration from Saint Peter's (N.J.) University in 2012, Keddie accepted a graduate assistant's position at ECU. In February, 2014, she was promoted to full-time status as compliance coordinator and had oversight of all aspects of the admissions, eligibility certification and recruiting processes. While at ECU, Keddie earned master of science (exercise sport science) and master of business administration degrees in July, 2015.

Keddie is a member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and Women Leaders in College Sports while serving on various committees at ECU. Recently, she was appointed to the NCAA D1 Progress Toward Degree Waivers Committee and will serve on this committee through August 31, 2027.
