Cole Barnhill was hired as an Assistant Director of Media Relations in August 2022. Barnhill oversees media relations for the Pirates women's basketball, soccer, lacrosse, cross country and track & field programs.

A 2020 graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Barnhill spent the 2021-22 school year at Radford University where he worked with women's lacrosse and cross country and track & field, as well as serving as the secondary contact for women's basketball.

The Durham, N.C. native majored in English and Political Science while at UNC, getting his entry into athletics communications as a junior working primarily with women's soccer and track & field. In his role as a student assistant he had the opportunity to staff the 2018 Women's College Cup with women's soccer and the 2019 ACC Outdoor Championships, NCAA East Prelims and NCAA Championships with the UNC track & field team.
