Dr. Cal Christian took over as faculty athletics representative at East Carolina University in August of 2015.
Christian, an accounting professor at ECU, serves as a liaison between the university and athletics department, focusing primarily on development and improvement of the student-athlete experience. He has also been a part of a handful of other committees, including serving as chair of the university athletics committee from 2012-15, a group he has held membership within since 2007.
A Jackson, Miss., native, Christian earned his bachelor’s degree in accountancy at Ole Miss in 1984 and later earned his Ph.D. at Florida State in 2000. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds memberships with the North Carolina Association of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs and American Association of Accountants.
Christian married his wife Kay in June of 1988. The couple has a son, Conner, and a daughter, Sarah, who was a four-year pitcher for the East Carolina softball team and named ECU Ms. Pirate at the 2015 Goldspys Award Show.
