J.J. McLamb is in his 25th full-time year in collegiate athletics and 24th at East Carolina University where he serves as the Executive Associate Athletics Director/ Internal Operations. He has direct oversight of operations, equipment, grounds and all construction projects, which has included several facilities around campus including TowneBank Tower, Isley Indoor Performance Center, ECU Golf Facility and the Dick and Sarah Bennett Baseball Building.
He is also a valued member of ECU’s Leadership Team and Hall of Fame Committee, serves as the sport administrator for baseball, football, cross country and track & field, and also works hand in hand with Playfly Sports, ECU’s multimedia rights holder for the athletics department.

McLamb returned to East Carolina University in the spring of 2006 as assistant athletics director for administrative affairs where he has overseen the construction of the Max R. Joyner Family Stadium (softball)), Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium (soccer/lacrosse), Rogers Family Performance Center (weight room), Bate Foundation Track & Field Facility and the Williams-Harvey Team Sports Building, as well as several on-campus renovation projects.

Under his direction, East Carolina has also hosted the NCHSAA Eastern Regional basketball tournaments inside Minges Coliseum for over 21 years across multiple stings, including a consecutive run from 1990 through 2010, plus returns in later years (2018 and 2026).
Before rejoining the ECU staff, McLamb spent a year at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas as senior associate athletics director for facilities, heading the Runnin' Rebels day-to-day facility operations throughout the sports complex.
During his first tenure at East Carolina, McLamb spent four years as assistant athletics director for operations, where he was responsible for the all the department's physical operations including game-day activities and special events.
A native of Dunn, N.C., McLamb earned his bachelor's degree in management of recreation facilities and services from ECU in 2001. He married the former Emily Agler in the summer of 2010, and they are the parents of a daughter - Brayden.
