John Straniero is in his first year at East Carolina where he serves as a senior defensive analyst, a position he officially began on March 5, 2026.

Prior to moving to Greenville, Straniero spent almost three years at the University of Memphis as a defensive quality control specialist (2022-24) before serving as an assistant linebacker’s coach (2025), which he began in January.

Straniero has also worked at Monmouth University (2022) as an offensive quality control specialist, Montclair State University (2019-21) serving as the running backs coach and assistant special teams coordinator. He began his coaching career at Don Bosco Prep High School in 2019 working as an assistant linebacker’s coach and special teams coordinator.
