Affectionately known to Pirate Club members as "Big Guy", Matt Maloney serves as Assistant Athletics Director/Major Gifts of the Pirate Club following his promotion to the position July 2004. Maloney has been a part of the Pirate Club staff since Jan. 1994.
In his major gifts role, Maloney is charged with assisting high-level fundraising activities, capital campaign projects and fostering external relations and internal relationships. He has been instrumental in the growth and development of the ECU Letterwinners chapter of the Pirate Club through building relationships with past student-athletes.
Throughout his time at ECU, he has worked closely with the coaches and support staff of the athletics department and other members of the university's administration.
Prior to his role of Assistant Director of Development with the Pirate Club in 1994, Maloney was the Assistant Director for Sports Marketing on the ECU Athletics staff.
A former swimmer at South Carolina, obtained a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies in 1987. He earned a master of science in sport administration from Ohio in 1991.
Maloney and his wife, Laurie, are the proud owners of Buccaneer, a golden lab.
