Steven Hinrichs joined the ECU athletics staff as Director of Athletic Equipment Operations in July 2018.

With nearly a dozen years of experience in collegiate athletics, Hinrichs overseas all equipment needs for baseball and football, while overseeing procurement of all athletic equipment for ECU’s 20 varsity sports.

Hinrichs came to ECU after spending 11 years as the associate director for equipment operations at the United States Naval Academy, where he was responsible for assisting with the budget, purchase, distribution, retrieval, inventory and maintenance for 33 Division I sport programs. He served as an assistant equipment for Carolina Panthers from 2003-06 after working the franchise’s training camp in 2001 and 2002.

He is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Manager’s Association (AEMA). Hinrichs earned his degree from Sacred Heart in 2003.

Hinrichs and his wife, Christina, are the parents of twin daughters, Abigail and Olivia.
