Max R. Joyner Family Stadium, originally named ECU Softball Stadium, ushered in a new era for the program upon its construction in 2011. The approximately $4 million facility is one of the finest on the East Coast.
Max R. Joyner Family Stadium has a seating capacity of 1,000 with 200 purple chairback seats located directly behind home plate and 800 bleacher seats that stretch along each baseline. Right-center field features a state-of-the-art video board, allowing for in-game replays, and scoreboard. For fans who cannot attend every home game, a high-definition three-camera system is utilized for live streaming during events. Cameras are positioned behind home plate and down the first and third base lines.
Over the last few years, the facility has undergone a number of aesthetic improvements, including new backstop padding, artificial turf in foul ground and a full enclosure of the hitting cages. Beyond the wall from left to left-center field are flags representing the six other American Athletic Conference softball institutions. On the outfield wall in left-center field are banners showcasing the Pirates' championships and NCAA Regional appearances.
For those covering Pirate softball, a press box rises behind the purple chairback seats. The main press area has seating for up to eight media members and gameday staff and is fully air conditioned and carpeted. The facility also features two radio booths (one for home and one for visitors), a television booth and a camera well.
Amenities for those in attendance include a concession stand and ample restrooms.
