Jackson averaged 17 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.67 steals per game last week in East Carolina's three games against N.C. State, Bethune-Cookman, and Alabama.
Against the Wolfpack, Jackson scored 12 points, and pulled down three boards. She also had one steal in the outing against State.
Jackson had nine points, seven rebounds and one steal this past weekend in the Pirates' win against Bethune-Cookman in the U.S. Cellular Classic. She led the team in rebounds during the game. Jackson notched a career high 30 points against Alabama on Sunday afternoon, leading all scorers. She became only the second Pirate in the past two seasons to post a 30-point game. She had nine rebounds against the Crimson Tide, and three steals. Jackson was selected by media and coaches as the MVP of the U.S. Cellular Classic.
For the season, Jackson is averaging 13.4 points and 7.7 boards per game. Twice this year she broke her career high for rebounds, first against South Carolina State with nine and then against Howard with 13. The 30 points against Alabama broke her previous career high by 10, set last season against Ohio. Her three steals in the outing against Alabama tied her career high set at Appalachian State last season.
"She (Jackson) really got after it and she came up with a couple of big-time rebounds toward the end of the game," said Baldwin after Sunday's win over previously unbeaten Alabama. "I think she is coming into her own now this year and she is getting a little more confidence in the kind of game that we are playing. We are able to use her in some isolation. She can drive so well and she can shoot the three so she is hard to defend."
The Lady Pirates are currently on a break from basketball, taking time off for end of semester exams. They will return to action on Thursday, December 19 against North Carolina A&T. That game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
