
No. 14 ECU Completes Sweep of the Bearcats, 13-7

The Pirates (31-6, 12-3 C-USA) hit five home runs for the third straight day running their season total to 73. Ryan Jones, Trevor Lawhorn and Poppert each finished with two hits.
ECU trailed 3-1 heading into the top of the fifth. Trevor Lawhorn doubled in two runs with two outs tying the game. Costanzo, Darryl Lawhorn and Poppert each followed with their home runs to give the Pirates a 9-3 advantage.
Ryan Jones' 15th home run of the season pushed the Pirates ahead, 10-3, in the top of the sixth. Trevor Lawhorn's 18th home run of the season brought in three runs giving the Pirates a 13-3 lead in the top of the eighth.
Drew Saylor launched a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth and Aaron Moll hit solo homer to finish out the scoring for the Bearcats.
ECU broke out to a 1-0 lead when Jamie Paige scored on Ryan Norwood's fielder's choice. Cincinnati scored three runs in the bottom of the second going ahead, 3-1.
Steve Pickerell and Saylor each led the Pirates at the plate going 3-for-4. Saylor also added four RBI.
ECU now heads to No. 24 N.C. State Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest.
