"We are very appreciative of the support that Trade Mart and Wachovia have given for the Keith LeClair Classic," said Assistant Athletic Director Craig Curtis. "With their support, we are able to bring in some great teams and put on a first class tournament."
The 2005 Keith LeClair Classic features some of the top teams in the country. The field includes East Carolina, Arizona State, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and Ohio State. The first game begins Friday, March 4 at 11a.m. as the Pirates play Michigan in opening game of Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Keith LeClair Classic is named in honor of former ECU Baseball Coach Keith LeClair. LeClair served as head coach at East Carolina from 1998-2002. He stepped down after the 2002 season after being diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder. He currently serves as a special advisor to the Pirate baseball program.
"All of us at Trade Mart are proud to sponsor this special event that honors Coach LeClair," said Walter Williams, president of Trade Mart. "We look forward to an exciting weekend of terrific baseball."
