
Volleyball Wins Seventh Straight, Sweeps Southern Miss

GREENVILLE, N.C.-- The East Carolina volleyball team won its seventh straight match, sweeping Southern Miss 3-0 (30-26, 30-27, 30-16) Friday evening in Minges Coliseum on senior night. The Pirates are now 17-9, 8-4 in C-USA while Southern Miss drops to 13-13, 5-6 in C-USA action.
Mignon Dubenion led the Pirates with 13 kills on the night, with a .455 hitting percentage. She also added four blocks. Kelley Wernert and Melissa Zentner also tallied double-figure kills, with 12 and 11, respectively. Hannah Fenker recorded a team-high 11 digs while Trish Monroe chipped in 10. Heidi Krug dished out 41 assists in the victory.
Mari Ruddick paced the Golden Eagles with 13 kills while Amanda Huntoon added 10. Kristen Metz registered 12 assists and Amanda Blunck tallied a team-high eight digs.
ECU out hit the Golden Eagles .327-.173, recording 51 kills to the Golden Eagles' 46. The Pirates secured the win, hitting .615 in the third and final game, holding Southern Miss to just .065.
The Pirates return home to Minges Coliseum on Sunday afternoon for the teams' final home match of the season. Match time against UCF is set for 1:00 p.m.
