ECU Hosts Limestone In Pre-Thanksgiving Game Tuesday Night
Fresh off its first road win in nearly a year, East Carolina returns home Tuesday night to face Limestone inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum (7 p.m./No TV).
The Pirates have six players averaging eight or more points with three averaging double figures, led by junior college transfer Darrell Jenkins at 15.3 ppg. Jenkins scored 22 points in his ECU debut and then dropped in 19 points against UNC Greensboro on Saturday.
Senior Courtney Captain is averaging over 13 ppg as a starter, while junior Jeremy Ingram is averaging 11.7 ppg off the bench.
Jenkins isn't the only newcomer to have gotten off to a fast start, freshmen Gabe Blair and John Fields have made early contributions. Blair is nearly averaging a double-double with 9.7 ppg and 9.7 rpg, while Fields ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.706) and third in blocks per game (2.67).
Limestone is off to a 2-0 start this season with wins over Bellarmine and Newberry. Senior Shawn Poppie leads the team in scoring with 23.0 ppg. Senior Terrell Smith is also netting double figures with 19.5 ppg as is Marq Bell with 12.5.
This will be the second consecutive year that ECU has hosted Limestone. The Pirates claimed an 87-54 win last season.

Following Tuesday's game against Limestone, ECU will hit the hardwood again on Sunday against North Carolina Central at 3:30 p.m. The game was originally slated for a 7 o'clock start on Saturday, November 25. The game was moved due to the rescheduling of the Pirates' football game at NC State on Saturday, November 25, which has been slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Pirates defeated the Eagles 67-60 in an exhibition game last season.

East Carolina snapped a 13-game road losing streak this past Saturday with a 72-64 win at UNC Greensboro, giving the Pirates their first road victory since defeating Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. nearly one year ago. Guards Helping On The Boards
With only two players which are listed at 6-foot-8 seeing significant playing time early this season, ECU guards, none listed at over 6-4, have done a good job of helping out on the boards.
