
Baseball To Hold Purple-Gold World Series

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The 2009 East Carolina baseball team will conclude its fall practice this week with a three-game intra-squad scrimmage at Lewis-Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium starting Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The Pirates, who started fall practice on Sept. 14, will play a double-header on Thursday (3 and 7 p.m.) and conclude its annual series on Friday with a first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to all Pirate fans.
ECU welcomes back 22 letterwinners from a team that finished 42-21 and made their ninth NCAA Regional in the last 10 years. Returning this season is All-American Seth Maness; All Conference USA performer Stephen Batts; C-USA All-Freshman Team selection Dustin Harrington; All C-USA Tournament Team selection Kyle Roller and Conway Regional All-Tournament performer Brandon Henderson.
Also stepping onto the diamond are 14 new faces, which consists of three transfers Joe Avchen (Seminole College), Chris Heston (Seminole College) and Zach Woods (Louisburg College), as well as 11 freshmen: Shawn Armstrong, Brett Bowers, Kevin Brandt, Philip Clark, Jacob Davis, Lance Honeycutt, Patrick Somers, Corey Thompson, Mark Wilder, Mike Wright and Zach Wright.
