IRVING, Texas --- East Carolina freshman diver Katie Yamamoto was named Conference USA Diver-of-the-Week on Monday, earning the first weekly accolade of her collegiate career. The award marks the second consecutive week in which a member of the Pirate women's swimming and diving team has received the weekly honor after senior Amanda Duncan was named co-Swimmer-of-the-Week on October 21.
Yamamoto posted her top one-meter and three-meter scores of the season against Georgetown on Friday. Yamamoto scored a 249.75 in the one-meter dive and then notched a 261.82 in the three-meter to win both events against the Hoyas. She followed that performance with a 246.83 in the three-meter dive against Towson to win the event.
Yamamoto and her ECU teammates will return to dual meet competition on Saturday, Nov. 8 with a tri-meet against Catawba and College of Charleston. The meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start at Minges Aquatic Center.
