Competition Continues At Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The East Carolina men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued competition at the Gamecock Inivtational on Friday. Both teams are in foruth place in the overall team standings entering the final day of competition on Saturday.
All three of the Pirate divers finished among the top 10 in diving well. Freshman Meghan Coyne and Katie Yamamoto placed sixth and seventh in the women's one-meter diving event, while Matt Larson finished seventh in the men's three-meter competition.
Senior Amanda Duncan recorded the Pirates' top finish of the day by earning second place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.70.
Rachel Blue, Kelsey Brosi, Jackie Jones and Stephanie Harper also recorded inidividual top 10 finishes for the Pirates. Blue placed eighth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.78), Brosi placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke (58.15), Jones claimed fourth-place in the women's 400-yard IM (4:27.09) and Harper took fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.41).
Thiago Cavalcanti had the Pirates' top finish on the men's side by earning third-place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.97), Ailton Temotio also recorded a top five finish by tying for fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (50.62).
The trio of Tommy Ryan (57.88), Travis Stauder (58.03) and Andrew Johnson (58.39) finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively in the 100-yard breaststoke.
The Gamecock Invitational concludes Saturday with the final commencing at 6 p.m.
