
Bristow Completes Sweep Of Presbyterian 3-0

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Justin Bristow tossed a four-hit complete game shutout Saturday afternoon facing three batters over the minimum and helping East Carolina to a 3-0 win over Presbyterian College at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. With the win, the Pirates (32-13) complete the sweep over the Blue Hose (12-30) and finished the week with a perfect 5-0 ledger.
Bristow (6-2),who lowered his ERA to 2.42, retired 24 of the first 27 batters he faced before giving up two hits in the ninth frame with two outs. He fanned a career-high nine batters while not allowing a walk for his second complete game of the season.
Eric Tatum (2-4) worked 6.1 innings allowing three runs on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts before giving way to Andrew Cockerham in the seventh. Cockerham gave up one hit in 1.2 innings with one punch out.
ECU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks the three Pirate hits. Harrison Eldridge led off with a double down the right field line then took third on Stephen Batts ground out to second. Corey Kemp plated the games first run with a single to center for his 50th RBI of the season. Brandon Henderson drew a walk to put runners on first and second and Jamie Ray's single to left scored Kemp.
Harrison Eldridge pushed the Pirates lead to 3-0 in the seventh with his third hit of the game, a RBI single through the right side that scored Dustin Harrington from second. Harrington picked up his second hit of the game with one out then moved to second on a Cockerham balk. Broc Sutton walked just before Eldridge's at-bat.
The Pirates will be back in action on Tuesday, April 29 when they travel to in-state rival UNC-Wilmington. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
