
Bridgers And Hendrick Named To Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, Va. - Former East Carolina swimmers Meredith Bridgers and Amy Hendrick have been named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Silver Anniversary women's swimming and diving team. A panel of current and former conference head coaches selected the team.
Bridgers was a four-time CAA individual champion in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and earned CAA Athlete-of-the-Years honors as a junior in 1990. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in 1990 and '91 and was inducted into the ECU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.
Hendrick won a pair of CAA 100-yard backstroke individual titles and was a member of two CAA championship relay teams. In 1999 she set the CAA Championship record in the 100-yard backstroke. The following season she became the first ECU female swimmer to participate in the Olympic Trials in 2000.
The team includes 14 former CAA Swimmers-of-the-Year and three CAA Divers-of-the-Year.Other members of the CAA Silver Anniversary team for women's swimming and diving are: Mary Kay Bolduc (Old Dominion), Meredith Budner (Towson), Mary Campioli (George Mason), Gabriella C'sepe (American), Jamie D'Agostino (Old Dominion), Jane DePalo (Old Dominion), Kara Fichthorn (Old Dominion), Kate Hynes (Drexel), Jennifer Irby (Towson), Stacia Johnson (Navy), Liz Lebherz (Towson), Erin McDonnell (James Madison), Louise Middlemore (George Mason), Ruth Anne Miller (William & Mary), Kate Milling (UNC Wilmington), Katie Radloff (William & Mary), Jamye Stickney (Old Dominion), Lauren Stinnett (George Mason), Adrienne Sutton (UNC Wilmington), Lottie Swanson (James Madison), Cindy Walker (James Madison), Sue Wager (Richmond) and Debbie Williams (Navy).
East Carolina won four conference titles (1995, 1996, 1997, 2000) during its 15-year membership in the CAA.
The CAA was formed in 1983 as the ECAC South basketball league and reorganized as the CAA in 1985 when it added championships in other sports. ECU was one of eight charter members of the CAA that included American, George Mason, James Madison, Navy, Richmond, UNC Wilmington and William & Mary.
