IRVING, Texas - East Carolina junior Jenna Stewart and sophomore Meghan Coyne were awarded this week's Conference USA Swimmer and Diver-of-the-Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Stewart won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle in a quad-meet against Campbell, Marshall and Towson, while Coyne won the one-meter and three-meter diving events and earned her third-straight Diver-of-the-Week award.
Stewart touched the wall in 23.67 in the 50-free and clocked a 50.97 in the 100-free. The Winter Park, Fla., native was a key contributor in the 400-yard freestyle relay that set a Minges Pool record with a time of 3:29.48. This marks Stewart's first career swimmer-of-the-week accolade.
Coyne swept both the one-meter and the three-meter springboards during the quad-meet to earn her third consecutive weekly award. She tallied a score of 275.50 on the one-meter and registered a 268.30 on the three-meter springboard to earn first-place honors. The award marks the fourth of her career.
ECU returns to the water on November 7 when it travels to Charleston, S.C., to take on the College of Charleston Cougars. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
