
ECU Sweeps Dual Meet At CofC

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The East Carolina men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept a dual meet at College of Charleston Saturday afternoon, with the men's team winning, 178-120, and the ladies taking a 195-99 decision. The men improved to 4-1 in dual meet competition and the ladies upped their record to 5-2.
The ECU women touched the wall first in 12 of the 16 events with five ladies recording multi-event victories. The Pirates won all five freestyle events with senior Rachel Blue taking first in the 100 and 200, junior Jenna Stewart placed first in the 50 and sophomore Caitlin Marsilli won the 400 and 800.
Junior Stephanie Harper won the 100 and 200 breaststroke races with freshman Kayla Ford winning both backstroke events. Sophomore Meghan Coyne earned first-place honors on both the one and three-meter springboard. The Pirates also claimed first-place in the 200-medley relay.
Junior Andrew Stoker posted a first-place finish in the 100 and 200 butterfly with sophomore Jonathan Bailey touching first in the 400 and 800 free. Sophomore Ailton Temotio proved to be the fastest swimmer on the men's side with a victory in the 50 free. Freshman Tyler Dunsmore gave the Pirates a clean sweep of the diving events with first-place scores on the one and-three meter board.
ECU will return to action November 19 when it begins competition at the three-day Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C.
