IRVING, Texas - East Carolina's Amanda Duncan and Katie Yamamoto have been named Conference USA Swimmer and Diver-of-the-Week for the period ending February 9. Duncan receives the honor for the second consecutive week for her performance in a dual meet victory over William and Mary. The senior set a pool record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.14 and also captured a first-place victory in the 100-yard fly touching the wall in 56.96. Yamamoto receives Diver-of-the-Week honors after earning a first-place finish on the one-meter diving board with a score of 210.60.
Duncan set a new pool record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.14. The senior also captured a first-place victory in the 100-yard fly touching the wall in 59.96, before helping the 200-yard medley relay team earn a first-place finish with a time of 1:48.53. The Wake Forest, N.C. native currently ranks atop the ECU records in both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events this season. This is Duncan's fourth career honor and third in 2008-09.
Yamamoto earned a first-place finish on the one-meter diving board in ECU's dual victory over William and Mary. The freshman diver was the only diver to surpass the 200-point mark recording a score of 210.60 to win first in a field of six divers. This is the Yamamoto's second weekly honor of the season.
