GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina freshman Meghan Coyne will compete at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships at the University of Tennessee beginning Thursday, March 12. Coyne will be the lone Pirate diver competing, as a late season injury will keep freshman Katie Yamamoto out of the competition.
This marks the seventh consecutive season in which an ECU diver has qualified for the regional championships.
"This will be a big test for Meghan, said Pirate diving coach Rich MacDonald. "It will be the toughest meet she has ever competed in and I am excited to see how the freshman will react in this environment. She has worked extremely hard to get to this point."
Coyne turned in her best dives of the year at the Gamecock Invitational, with a freshman record-setting and NCAA qualifying score of 272.85 on the one-meter board. That performance earned her Conference USA Diver-of-the-Week honors.
