Warzon To Join ECU Baseball Program

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Daniel Warzon, a sophomore at Young Harris Junior College, has committed to play baseball at East Carolina University beginning this fall according to an announcement from Head Coach Billy Godwin Friday.
Warzon, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., has helped the Mountain Lions to a No. 4 national ranking while hitting .433 (88-for-203) with five home runs, 65 RBI, 18 doubles and swiping 10-of-11 bases. On the mound, the right-hander owns a 2-0 record with two saves, 19 strikeouts, eight walks, has allowed 19 runs (17 earned) with a 6.79 ERA in 22 2/3 innings.
As a freshman at Young Harris, he batted .301 (56-for-186) in 56 games with three home runs and 37 RBIs and was named MVP of the NJCAA Region Tournament.
At Collins Hill High School, Warzon was a three-year starter where he was named first-team all-county as a junior and senior. He was selected to the junior and senior Georgia squad that participated in Oklahoma. Warzon batted .374 with 10 homers and 58 RBI during his final two seasons at the dish and sported a 3.60 ERA with seven saves and 48 punch outs in 52 innings of work.
He was also selected to participate in the Area Codes games in Long Beach, Calif. as a member of the Southeast squad during the summer before his senior campaign and was honored as one of the Gwinnett Daily Post Pre-season Super Six players in Georgia.
Warzon is the third player from Young Harris to commit to the Pirates following the 2006 signings of Trent Ashcraft and Corey Kemp.
