GREENVILLE, N.C. - After recording its fourth weekend series sweep of the season and posting a 3-1 week, the East Carolina baseball team continued its climb up the ladder in five major polls Monday afternoon.
The Pirates (35-14, 12-6 C-USA) were tabbed No. 22 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, No. 24 by Baseball America and Rivals.com and remained at No. 30 in this week's Collegiate Baseball poll.
This week's rankings marks the longest active streak ranked in at least one poll, 12 consecutive weeks, since the 2004 season when they were ranked 17 straight weeks. Back in 2001, the Pirates were ranked in at least one poll the entire season, which consisted of 19 weeks.
The Pirates will be back in action Friday, May 8 when they play a pivotal three-game road Conference USA series at Houston with a 7:30 p.m. (EDT) first pitch scheduled.
