
Pirates Drop Dual Meet To N.C. State

RALEIGH, N.C. --- The East Carolina swimming and diving teams dropped a dual meet at N.C. State Wednesday evening. The Wolfpack men posted a 151-80 win, while the N.C. State women defeated the ECU ladies' team, 145-91.
The loss dropped the men's dual meet record to 5-3 this season, while the ladies fell to 8-3 overall.
The lone individual victory for the Pirates on the men's side came courtesy of Andrew Stoker. Stoker touched 0:00.09 ahead of the Wolfpack's Matt Voell to earn a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.
Sophomore Meghan Coyne earned first-place on the women's one-meter board with a score of 255.90 and placed second on the three-meter board with a total of 258.23. Freshman Kirstie Russell placed fourth on both boards.
In the men's diving competition, Tyler Dunsmore placed second on the one-meter board and third on the three-meter board.
Junior Jenna Stewart recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events, as did Kelsey Brosi in the 100-yard backstroke.
Thiago Cavalcanti earned two second-place finishes as well in the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle.
The Pirates return to action on Saturday, Jan. 30, at UNC Wilmington.
