Watkins Named C-USA Golfer-Of-The-Week

IRVING, Texas --- East Carolina junior David Watkins has been named Conference USA Golfer-of-the-Week according to an announcement from the league office Wednesday. Watkins' Golfer-of-the-Week recognition is the fourth of his career after tallying the award three times during his sophomore season.
Watkins finished tied for fifth at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, competing against some of the nation's top golf squads, including No. 10 Duke, No. 18 N.C. State and No. 23 Wake Forest. He tallied a tournament-total 211 (68-70-73) to finish at two-under par. His first-round 68 was the low round of the day and tied his low round for the season.
The fifth-place post was his second consecutive top-10 finish after taking 10th at the VCU Shootout, where he also shot an opening-round 68.
