Pirates Conclude Nike Cup Competition

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- East Carolina concluded competition at the three-day Nike Cup held at Koury Natatorium on Saturday.
Senior Jenna Stewart earned a second-place finish with a time of 50.50 in the 100-yard freestyle. She also posted a second-place finish earlier in the day in the preliminaries with a time of 50.33.
Stewart joined Kelsey Brosi, Holly Berenotto and Natalia Favoreto to earn a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
On the men's side, senior Thiago Cavalcanti recorded an NCAAA 'B' cut time of 15:32.92 in the 1650-yard freestyle and finished seventh in the event.
Brosi, Cavalcanti and Stewart will each head to Columbus, Ohio to participate in the 2010 U.S. Short Course Nationals, Dec. 2-4. Anna Gibas and Andrew Stoker will also compete in the event.
