GREENVILLE, N.C. --- After opening the season at the prestigious Golfweek Conference Challenge a week ago, East Carolina will return to the links Monday as participants in the 2010 Verizon Wireless VCU Shootout.
The 54-hole tournament will be played Sept. 27-28 at the Hermitage Country Club Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
The 14-team field includes 2010 NCAA Regional participants Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wichita State. Charlotte and Wake Forest are both currently ranked in the top-50 along with tournament entries Liberty and UNC Greensboro.
ECU will go with the lineup of Harold Varner, David Watkins, Warren Straub, Jake Colley and Conner Sock. Varner, Watkins and Straub each competed in last week's Golfweek Conference Challenge, but Colley and Sock will be making their season debuts Monday.
