IRVING, Texas - East Carolina senior Kylie Francis was one of six student-athletes named to the 2010-11 Conference USA Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team announced by the league office Wednesday.
The all-academic team consists of six student-athletes that have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and have competed in 75 percent of their team's scheduled meets. Rice and SMU each had two members on the team, while East Carolina, and Marshall each had one representative.
Francis earned her first All-Academic recognition as she holds a 3.75 GPA as a fashion merchandise major. A member of the 2010 Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Francis posted her season-best times in the 50-free (53.74), 100-free (24.47), 100-back (57.79) and 200-back (2:03.27) at the prestigious Nike Cup. She swept the competition in the 100- and 200-backstroke in a tri-meet against Campbell and College of Charleston.
SMU seniors Audra Egenolf and Sascha Van den Branden each earned their third-consecutive All-Academic team honor. Rice senior Karen Gerken earned her second-straight All-Academic honor. Rice junior Shleby Bottoms and Marshall senior Lauren Fairbanks were each selected to the team for the first time.
