
Pirates Begin Pursuit Of C-USA Title

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The 34th-ranked East Carolina men's golf team is set to to tee off Sunday morning as the 2011 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship gets underway at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark. The Pirates are looking to capture their first C-USA title and receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
The championship consists of 54 holes on the par 72, 6,935-yard course over three days. This is the third time in five years that the tournament has been hosted at Texarkana Country Club.
After a blind draw, it was determined that the Pirates will tee off at 9:30 a.m. EDT, along with UAB, who won the event the last time it was held here in 2008, on the No. 10 tee. The Pirates will have a lineup consisting of Harold Varner, David Watkins, Adam Stephenson, Conner Sock and Jake Colley.
Along with the Pirates, three other nationally ranked teams will be looking to claim the title. Two-time defending champion UCF is ranked No. 33, while SMU is ranked No. 50 and Tulsa is No. 54.
The championship is scheduled to resume Monday at 9:30 a.m. EDT and the final round will be played Tuesday at 9 a.m. Live scoring of this year's Conference USA Men's Golf Championship will be provided by Golfstat.
