GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina senior swimmer Andrew Stoker has been named Capital One Academic All-District III At-Large First-Team selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This marks the first time in his career that Stoker has been honored on the Academic All-District team.
The 2010-11 men's at-large team was voted on by members of CoSIDA from District III, which encompasses Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. To qualify for Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status at their university, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.2 and be either a starter or key reserve for their team.
Stoker graduated with 4.0 grade point average (GPA) with a degree in accounting. Stoker is a two-year All-Conference USA performer and four-year C-USA Championship finalist. He was recently named the 2010-11 ECU Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Year and recipient of the league's Winter Spirit of Service Award. He set the school record in the 200-yard butterfly this year with a time of 1:48.26.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the national Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
