
Eight Pirates Earn All C-USA Honors

PEARL, Miss. - East Carolina's Seth Maness was one of eight Pirates to earn All-Conference USA honors the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Maness took home first-team All C-USA honors for the fourth-straight season after leading the Pirates in wins (8), strikeouts (67) and innings pitched (87.0). The right-hander tossed three complete games in 13 starts and posted a 2.07 ERA. Over his four-year career, Maness owns a 36-11 record with 321 punch outs in 393.2 innings.
A quartet of Pirates were named to second-team all-conference in Kevin Brandt, Brad Mincey, Trent Whitehead and Zach Wright. Brandt has appeared in 17 games (10 starts) posting a 6-3 record with a 2.27 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 83.1 innings, while Mincey owns a 5-3 ledger in 29 games with 45 punch outs and a league-best 1.23 ERA.
Whitehead, who was a preseason all-conference selection, shared the team lead in average (.333), while leading in hits (73), doubles (20), stolen bases (14) and has posted multiple hits in 22 of 55 games. Wright earned all-league honors after belting 13 home runs, which ranked second in C-USA. The two-time Johnny Bench Award Watch List candidate batted .292 (59-for-202) with 15 doubles, 45 RBI and 39 runs scored.
Ben Fultz, Chase McDonald and Jack Reinheimer were each named to the All-Freshman squad marking the most Pirate selections since 2005. Fultz has started 39 games for ECU in his rookie season where he is batting .301 (46-for-153) with four home runs, six doubles, four triples and 25 RBI. McDonald is also batting .301 (49-for-163) on the season where he has belted three home runs, roped nine doubles and drove in 25.
Reinheimer rounds out the All-Freshman Team where he shares the team lead with Whitehead in average (.333/62-for-186). The Charlotte, N.C. native has started 48 of 52 games at short where he has four doubles, 21 RBI and 32 runs.
The Pirates (37-18) will kickoff the C-USA Championships Wednesday, May 25 when they square off with sixth seed Houston at 5 p.m. (EDT) at Trustmark Park.
