Armstrong Named CPL Pitcher-of-the-Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina right-hander Shawn Armstrong has been named Coastal Plain League Pitcher-of-the-Week according to an announcement by the leagues website Tuesday afternoon. Armstrong is the second Pirate to take home CPL Player-of-the-Week honors following Chase McDonald's accolades back on June 14.
The rising junior fanned 15 and walked one in the Morehead City's 7-0 win over Florence last week. Armstrong worked eight shutout innings and improved to 2-0 on the season a dropped his ERA to an impressive 1.38. He has allowed just two runs (both earned) in 13.0 innings with 21 strikeouts to six walks.
Armstrong is one of 17 Pirates playing summer ball and one of seven playing in the Coastal Plain League.
