
Pirates Split Swimming & Diving Meet With Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. - The East Carolina swimming & diving teams spilt Saturday's meet with Old Dominion at the J.C. "Scrap" Chandler Pool.
The Pirate women's swimming and diving team improved to 5-2 on the year with a 155-143 victory over the Monarchs, while the men's team fell to 3-3 in with a 165-127 setback.
Senior Natalia Favoreto led the way for the ladies with a pair of individual victories. She touched first in both the 50 (24.26) and 100-yard freestyle (52.74). Junior Holly Berenotto posted the only other first-place finish in the swimming pool for the ladies, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.61).
The Pirates swept the top three places on both diving boards with senior Katie Yamamoto posting top scores on the one (267.37) and three-meter board (271.43).
Attila Kiraly, Ailton Temotio and Dan Woods each recorded a first-place finish on the men's side. Kiraly won the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.23) by nearly three seconds, Temotio took first in the 100-yard butterfly (50.98) by over two seconds and Woods won the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.50) by 0.25.
ECU also swept the diving events on the men's side. Tyler Dunsmore posted the top score on the one-meter board (264.22) as did Kyle Comiskey on the three-meter board (266.85).
The Pirates will host their final home meet of the season Saturday, Jan. 21 welcoming Campbell and William & Mary to Minges Natatorium. The meet is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
