East Carolina Head Coach Jeff Lebo
Opening Statement
"The best thing I can say about that is that we won. I thought they played great. [Dontrell] Brite was unbelievable. He was phenomenal. He comes in averaging about 12 points a game. He was at 30 tonight, and he scored every which way -- underhand, righty, lefty, backwards, forwards, sideways, threes, twos. We had our best defender on him the last 10 or 12 minutes. A guy getting off like that really gave confidence to their other players. We struggled to score. We can't manufacture anything easy inside. We have severe heat on us to make shots from the perimeter. Akeem in the corner for a 3-point shot. That was really the key play we needed."
On the play of Brandan Stith and Caleb White
"Great hustle play by both Caleb and Brandan. Brandan had a couple of key blocks coming down the stretch. Two freshmen grabbing nine rebounds each is pretty good work. I thought Caleb was good in some pressure packed situations. As the game went on the pressure built with our team, and I thought they handled it better than some of our older guys."
On Antonio Robinson's performance
"Antonio had a terrific play on the charge. It's hard to get now in college basketball with the secondary defender, and he was there; a big play there with a big stop at the end of the game. Antonio was really solid tonight. He scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting. He made some crucial plays for us."
Senior Guard Akeem Richmond
On getting to the foul line
"My coaches and my dad used to tell me to try and attack the basket when your shot is not falling, and obviously it wasn't falling tonight so I tried to be as aggressive as I could. That's what I had to do to help my team win."
On the play of Brandon Stith
"He really helped us out a lot. When we weren't playing so well he really stepped up and helped us out. That block at the end was huge. We probably don't win the game if he doesn't do that."
Junior Guard Antonio Robinson
On taking the charge in the final 10 seconds
"Josh (Hicks) played on my team last year [at Louisburg College] so I knew he was going to put it down and try to score. I just stepped over and took the charge. We did it in practice every day."
