PROVIDENCE, R.I. - East Carolina junior Bailie Monahan and sophomore Alicia Roueche, who helped the Pirates in a double-dual meet against South Carolina and Charleston, have been named the American Athletic Conference Female Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.
It was the third weekly honor of Bailey's collegiate career as she was a two-time recipient of the Conference USA Swimmer-of-the-Week Award. The award was Roueche's first from any conference.
Monahan was a winner in four events in the Pirates' meet against South Carolina and Charleston. She won the 100 butterfly in 56.48 seconds, took the 200 butterfly in 2:02.02, won the 200 individual medley in 2:05.26, and swam the butterfly leg on the 400 medley relay, which took first in 3:48.82.
Roueche was named the Female Diver-of-the-Week after she turned in an NCAA Zone Diving qualifying score on the three-meter board in the dual meet against South Carolina and Charleston. She took fifth in that event with 285.30 points and was sixth on the one-meter board with 238.20 points.
East Carolina's men's and women's teams will compete in the Nike Cup at the University of North Carolina Nov. 20-22, a three-day event with a similar format to those at conference and NCAA championship events. The Pirates will compete against North Carolina, Tennessee, Air Force, Duke, North Carolina State, Old Dominion and Navy (men only) in swimming and diving events. The Michigan men and women, the James Madison women and the Georgia Southern women will compete in diving.
