ECU made one last push after Phillips connected on a 3-pointer just six seconds later, as the Pirates chipped away at its deficit for the final four minutes of action.
Back-to-back layups by Ebron with 48 and 32 seconds remaining in the game sandwiched a big defensive stop to bring East Carolina within four points, 66-62, but the Bulls made three free throws to close out the game and preserve a seven-point victory.
