
Pirates Wrap Up Competition At The Nike Cup

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- The East Carolina women's swimming and diving finished fifth and the men's team placed sixth at the 2015 Janis Hape Dowd Nike Cup Invitational, which concluded Saturday at Koury Natatorium.
During the final day of competition, sophomore Vendela Norrman posted the ladies best individual finish, capturing second-place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:13.69. Senior Megan Sellers claimed fourth-place in the event with a time of 2:16.31.
The ECU women also had two competitors in the finals of the 200-yard butterfly with sophomore Julie Lajoie earning sixth-place (2:01.67) and senior Bailie Monahan finishing seventh (2:02.03).
Monahan teamed with Anastasia Amoiroglou, Bridie Burke and Anna Maria Svanbergsson to claim fifth-place in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
On the men's side, sophomore Boleck De Pawlikowski was the only Pirate to compete in an event final Saturday and he finished seventh in the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.76). Sophomore Scott Kent earned the fifth-place score (258.60) in the men's platform diving competition.
Freshman Victor Santos teamed up with seniors Shawn Hunter, Michael Dugan and Trevor Irish in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay and claimed sixth-place with a time of 3:01.43.
Duke won the men's team title and North Carolina captured the women's.
East Carolina will be back in action Jan. 16, 2016 at Old Dominion.
