
Pirate Swimming Teams Earn Three Victories

BUEIS CREEK, N.C. - The East Carolina University men's and women's swimming teams posted three wins on Saturday at the Johnson Natatorium on the Campbell University campus.
The Pirate men defeated Gardner-Webb, 157-103, while on the women's side, the Pirates defeated Gardner-Webb, 175-81, and Campbell, 162-94. The men improved to 3-1 in dual meets this season and the ladies advanced their record to 4-1.
The ECU men's and women's swimming teams combined for 19 individual victories and three relay wins in the 28-event meet with 44 individual medal finishes, sweeping the top-3 places in four events, two on each side.
During the women's tri-meet, Julie Lajoie touched first in the 200 and 400 IM as well as the 200 back to post three victories, while Bailie Monahan swept the women's butterfly events with Megan Sellers (100) and Vendela Norrman (200) splitting the breaststroke events. Anna Maria Svanbergsson (200 free), Taylor Hague (100 back), Anastasia Amoiroglou (50 free) and Liz Browne (500 free) were also triumphant in a single event.
Julien Dodu and William Hicks led the men's team with two wins apiece. Dodu captured first in the 400 IM and 500 free, while Hicks was the winner in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Michael Dugan (200 free), Adam Dear (200 fly), Boleck De Pawlikowski (200 back) and Fran Krznaric (200 IM) each posted a win as well.
East Carolina returns to action at the prestigious Nike Cup, Nov. 19-21, at Koury Natatorium on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
