ECU Sets 2016 Baseball Banquet For Feb. 6
December 16, 2015 | Baseball
GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina baseball fans will get a chance to meet the 2016 Pirates up close and personal on Saturday, Feb. 6 as ECU will host its 2016 Pirate Baseball Banquet inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
Former Pirate great and 2015 ECU Hall of Fame inductee Chad Tracy will serve as the keynote speaker, while WNCT-TV Sports Director Brian Bailey will emcee the event. Tracy, who spent nine years playing with four Major League Baseball clubs, was a member of three Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship teams that received consecutive number one seeds (1999-2001) in the NCAA Regionals. Twice he was named to the all-regional team and selected as the 2001 NCAA Wilson Regional Most Outstanding Player.
Tracy earned first-team all-conference honors as a junior in 2001, leading the Pirates to their first-ever NCAA Super Regional before forgoing his senior season to sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was selected CAA Rookie-of-the-Year in 1999 and was named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America Team, setting ECU freshman records for batting average (.349) and hits (83). Tracy finished his three-year career with the Pirates ranked among the school's all-time top 10 in batting average (.339), hits (249), RBIs (154), doubles (48) and total bases (373).
"We are excited to kick off our 2016 season with a special night for the Pirate Nation," ECU Head Coach Cliff Godwin said. "This will be a fun evening for our fans to come out and support our team. There's no better way to get the season started than with Chad Tracy, a Pirate Hall of Famer, leading the charge!"
The 2016 Pirates will be introduced during the program and fans will have a chance to hear from Coach Godwin as well as captains Garrett Brooks, Parker Lamm and Travis Watkins.
A year ago, Godwin guided the Pirates to a 40-win season, an American Athletic Conference Tournament title and a berth in the Coral Gables Regional - their first NCAA post-season appearance since 2012.
Pirate fans, coaches, players and ECU dignitaries will enjoy a sit-down dinner provided by McCall's that includes: grilled chicken, pork tenderloin, roasted new potatoes, vegetable medley, rolls, salad, chef's dessert, iced tea, lemonade and water.
Capacity for this year's event is limited to 800 people with ticket prices set for adults ($40), ECU Baseball Alumni ($25) and children under 12 ($20). Fans also have the ability to purchase tables at the price of $700, which consists of eight seats for family and friends to go along with two players. Each table that is sold will receive a team autographed baseball jersey and two general admission season ticket vouchers for 2016.
Every person in attendance will also get a team poster and one ticket voucher to the 2016 season opener against Longwood, which is set for 4 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.
