Lenahan Earns American Conference Player of the Week
April 06, 2026 | Baseball
GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina's Grady Lenahan has been named American Conference Player of the Week following a standout stretch at the plate, the league office announced Monday afternoon.Â
Â
Â
Lenahan becomes the first Pirate this season to earn the conference's top weekly honor. Davin Whitaker previously garnered honorable mention recognition on March 23. The last time a Pirate garnered American Player of the Week was Jacob Jenkins-Cowart in May of 2024, with Lenahan being the first freshman since Josh Moylan in 2021 to receive the weekly honor. Â
Â
Â
The freshman has quickly established himself as a key piece in East Carolina's lineup, consistently producing out of the two and three spots in the order. Lenahan has accounted for at least one run in each of the Pirates' last 10 games, providing a steady offensive presence.Â
Â
Â
East Carolina's offense surged over the past four contests, totaling 53 runs on 56 hits, highlighted by a pair of run-rule victories over conference rival Charlotte during the weekend series.Â
Â
Â
Lenahan played a major role in that production, hitting an impressive .600 (9-for-15) across the four games while scoring seven runs and driving in eight. He also tallied his second triple of the season and launched his sixth career home run against UNCW on March 30. Lenahan is currently tied with Jack Herring for the team lead in home runs during the 2026 campaign.Â
Â
Â
On the season, Lenahan leads the Pirates in RBIs (39) and total bases (65). Â
Lenahan will be back in action with the Pirates in Clark LeClair Stadium for a rematch against ACC opponent Duke on April 7, at 6:00 p.m.
