ALL-TIME VERSUS SOUTH CAROLINA
The Pirates and Gamecocks will meet for the 15th time overall, but just the first time since Jan. 19, 1998 in Columbia, S.C., where South Carolina held on for a 67-60 victory. ECU's last win over USC came at home on Feb. 15, 1975 in a 74-64 triumph.
SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
South Carolina (10-0) is led by forward A'ja Wilson's 18.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and three blocks per game, while guard Tiffany Mitchell ranks second with 13.4 points. Post Player Alaina Coates is averaging 13.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per contest. The Gamecocks are shooting 46.5 percent as a team while holding opponents to just over 33 percent from the floor. South Carolina has defeated three ranks opponents already this season, including No. 6/10 Ohio State, No. 16/18 Arizona State and No. 14/13 Duke.
TOUGH TRAVELS CONTINUE
The Pirates are in the midst of a 42-day spread between home games, with the last one coming against Presbyterian on Nov. 20. ECU will play no home games in the month of December and return to Minges Coliseum for its second conference game of the year against nationally-ranked USF on Jan. 2.
ANOTHER MACY MILESTONE
Sixth-year Head Coach Heather Macy won her 200th-career game at SMU last season and recently won No. 100 at ECU last Friday, Nov. 27 in the 80-62 victory over Eastern Washington at the Lone Star Showcase in Austin, Texas. Macy is just five wins behind Cathy Andruzzi, 10 behind Catherine Bolton and 26 away from Sharon Baldwin-Tener for the top three spots in program history.
