FEDERAL WAY, Wash. --- East Carolina swimmers Boleck De Pawlikowski, Adam Dear, Michael Dugan and Fran Krznaric all competed at the AT&T Winter National Championships this past week at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
Krznaric, a native of Croatia, achieved an Olympic B standard in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:03.42, which is the top mark posted in the event by a Croatian this year; making him eligible for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He advanced to the C Final of the event and finished 18th. Krznaric also competed in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke finishing 29th and 43rd respectively.
Krznaric was named The American Swimmer-of-the-Week by collegeswimming.com for his performances.
Dear competed in the 100-meter butterfly and missed the U.S. Olympic Trial cut by one one-hundredth with a time of 54.80, finishing 28th in the event.
De Pawlikowski competed in the 200-meter backstroke and posted a personal best time of 2:08.1 to place 40th.
Dugan qualified for winter championships in four events and competed in three: 100, 200 and 400-meter freestyle.
"We are very proud of how all four of our guys competed this weekend, Pirate head coach Rick Kobe said. "Competitions like this are humbling with so many great swimmers competing. It is always great watching our Pirates compete on the same stage as the world's best. We are looking forward to seeing what these guys do at The American conference Championship in February."
East Carolina will return to competition Jan.4 against Johns Hopkins as part of its annual training trip to Jupiter Beach, Fla.
