MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
? The Pirates snapped six-game losing streak to Memphis and defeated the Tigers for just the second time in 18 all-time meetings. Each of their two wins has come inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum where ECU is now 2-6 against the Tigers.
? Both of East Carolina's wins over Memphis have come under coach Jeff Lebo. The Pirates bested the Tigers in his first season, 68-57, on March 2, 2011.
? ECU outscored Memphis in the paint, 34-24, after being outscored, 34-12, by Tigers less than two weeks ago.
? Coupled with its win over UCF on Saturday, the Pirates have now won consecutive games for the first time since defeating Florida A&M on Dec. 22 and UNCG on Dec. 28.
? The Pirates won their third straight home game and improved to 10-3 overall here this season and 4-2 in American Athletic Conference play.
TEAM NOTES
? The Pirates shot double digit free throws for the first time in five games. Their 23 total free throw attempts were more than the last four games combined (19).
? East Carolina was credited with double digit steals for the second straight game and for the fourth time overall this season. The Pirates are 4-0 this season when collecting 10 or more steals.
? East Carolina improved to 10-0 this season when leading with five minutes to play.
? The Pirates, who lead The American in made 3-point field goals per game, made only four tonight, but won their fourth straight game when making fewer than 10 in a game.
? East Carolina improved to 9-1 this season when holding its opponent to less than 60 points. It's only loss was a 58-50 setback at USF.
? ECU rallied from a halftime deficit for the fifth time this season.
? The Pirates have had more assists than turnovers in five consecutive games and fewer turnovers than their opponent in three of the last four games.
? East Carolina has forced 12 or more turnovers in three of the last four games. The Pirates' forced 19 Memphis miscues tonight, the most takeaways ECU has had in a conference games this season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
? Freshman B.J. Tyson posted his second 20-point game in the last three games, finishing one off his career-high with 23 points. It was his fifth 20-point performance of the year and his fourth consecutive game in double figures.
? Tyson scored 20 of his 23 points in the second half. It was the second time this season that he scored more than 20 points in a half. He also had 21 points in the second half against Hawaii.
? Tyson became the seventh freshman in school history to go over the 300-point mark as a rookie. His current tally of 307 points ranks seventh on the school's freshmen scoring list.
? Tyson `s 10 made field goals were a career-high, besting his previous mark of eight in three games.
? Sophomore Caleb White scored double figures for the third straight game and made multiple 3-pointers for the seventh time in the last eight games.
? Senior Antonio Robinson had more takeaways (three steals) than giveaways (one turnover) for the fourth straight game. It was the seventh time this year he had three or more steals in a game.
? Robinson played a season-high 33 minutes, matching his career-high.
? Senior Paris Roberts-Campbell moved into sole possession of seventh-place on the school's career 3-point field goals made list with 152 makes.
? Junior Kanu Aja scored six points, his most since scoring 11 at Florida Atlantic on Dec. 3, 2014.
