ALL-TIME VERSUS TULANE
The Pirates trail the Green Wave, 13-6, in the all-time series but have won three of the last four meetings with each of those victories coming on the road. East Carolina's last home victory over Tulane came on Feb. 17, 2007 in a 76-68 decision.
SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE
Tulane (10-4, 1-1 AAC) posted a 9-3 mark in non-conference play, but is coming off an 83-67 loss at Memphis on Sunday evening which snapped a seven-game winning streak. That came after a 70-48 victory over Houston in its American Conference opener last Wednesday. Sophomore guard Kolby Morgan leads the Green Wave with 16.2 points per game while junior point guard Leslie Vorpahl is averaging 11.1 points and 5.5 assists per contest.
AMERICAN CONFERENCE HONOR ROLL
Jada Payne has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll four times this season (Nov. 16, Nov. 23, Nov. 30 and Jan. 4). I'Tiana Taylor has received the same honors twice on her own (Dec. 7 and Dec. 21).
A TOUGH ROAD JOURNEY
The Pirates closed 42-day spread between home games on Jan. 2 when it hosted South Florida. ECU's last game within its friendly confines before that was Nov. 20 against Presbyterian.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE BUBBLE
East Carolina has had at least one player compile a double-double in eight-straight games and in 13 of its first 14 contests this season. On four occasions, two or more ECU players have posted a double-double in the same game. Against No. 19 Northwestern on Nov. 28, three Pirates (Marina Laramie, I'Tiana Taylor and Jada Payne) turned the trick. Payne and Taylor are currently tied for the team lead with seven double-doubles apiece.
PAYNE ERUPTS AT TULSA
Jada Payne scored a season-high 31 points and set career-highs in field goals made (13) and attempts (24) in ECU's American Conference opener on Dec. 30. She also played 44 minutes in the overtime contest which was one short of her career-high.
