
Pirates In Fifth At Greenville Regional Preview

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's golf team is currently in fifth place at the Greenville Regional Preview when play was halted due to darkness in the second round. Action will continue Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. (EDT) with the conclusion of the second round before the 16-team field concludes the event with third round play.
The Pirates (37-7) were sitting in third place after the first 18 holes with a score of 308 trailing only TCU (297) and Clemson (307). But when play was suspended Monday evening, ECU dropped to fifth trailing tournament leader TCU (19-over). Clemson (30-over) is second followed by Augusta (34-over), Kansas State (36-over) and the Pirates (39-over).
Kansas State's Connie Jaffrey lead the two-day event with a 1-over par score through 14 holes, while Virginia Tech's Jessica Spicer is one stroke back at 2-over through 15 holes.
Lisa Petterson, who claimed her first career tournament title two weeks ago at the Pinehurst Challenge leads the Pirates at 6-over and is tied for ninth place. Dorthea Forbrigd (8-over) is tied for 17th followed by Kate Law (11-over/t28), Siranon Shoomee (14-over/t48) and Carley Cox (16-over/t60). Playing as individuals for ECU are Grace Yatawara (14-over) and Catherine Ashworth (18-over), who are tied for 48th and 68th.
