Popovic Named American Male Swimmer-Of-The-Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – East Carolina freshman Grega Popovic has been named American Athletic Conference Male Swimmer-of-the-Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Popovic posted first-place finishes in two of the three individual events in which he competed against Navy Sunday. He registered an American Athletic Conference-best time of 9:38.48 in the 1000-yard freestyle and 4:42.27 in the 500 freestyle, second-fastest league time in the event this season. He was also part of the 400 medley relay team that earned a second-place finish and placed third in the 200 freestyle.

Popovic and the Pirates will host a tri-meet at Minges Natatorium on Saturday, Oct. 22, welcoming Catawba and Campbell to Greenville. ECU will also host a diving meet with Clemson and UNCW Saturday. Both events begin at 1 p.m.
