LOUISVILLE, Ky. – East Carolina freshman Dorthea Forbrigd carded an opening round 73 (1-over par) Sunday and is currently tied for third place at the Cardinal Cup. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72, 6,393-yard University of Louisville Golf Club.
Forbrigd, who is two shots off the lead, registered two birdies, a bogey, a double bogey and five pars on the front nine before shooting an even par on the back nine. Sophomore Kate Law and junior Lisa Pettersson are both tied for 18th with scores of 77 (5-over). Rounding out the Pirates roster is the freshmen duo of Siranon Shoomee (84) and Grace Yatawara (85), who are tied for 77th and 86th. Playing as individuals for ECU are sophomores Carley Cox (t18/77) and Catherine Ashworth (t44/80).
Seventh-ranked Florida State (301/13-over) holds a one shot lead over No. 48 Kentucky (302/14-over) after round one. No. 42 Wisconsin (303/15-over) is third followed by No. 22 Illinois (305/17-over) and No. 50 Louisville (306/18-over). Cincinnati and No. 33 East Carolina are five shots out of the Top 5 sitting with scores of 311 and are tied for sixth.
Jordan Chael (Kentucky) and Bing Singhsumalee (Illinois) are tied for the individual lead at one-under par (71).
