GREENVILLE, N.C. -- B.J. Tyson had 13 points, five assists, and four rebounds while Caleb White scored 13 points to lead East Carolina to a 61-51 win over North Carolina A&T on Monday night.

How It Happened

ECU went on a 20-3 run over a 7:15 stretch in the first half to break a 6-all tied and take a 26-9 lead with 8:52 to play.
Hunt's opening 3-pointer provided the Aggies with their lone lead of the game before White buried a 3 33 seconds later.
N.C. A&T outscored the Pirates 13-9 to end the half, trimming the Pirates' lead to 13, 35-22, at intermission.
Tyson scored seven of ECU's first 12 second half points as it stretch its lead to 19, 47-28.
Hughes and White buried back-to-back 3s in a span of 0:49 to give ECU its largest lead of the game at 55-34.
N.C. A&T ended the game on a 17-6 run to establish the final margin of 10, 61-51.

ECU was credited with nine blocks, its most since blocking nine against Mount Olive on Dec. 8, 2013.
The Pirates made more free throws (19) than N.C. A&T attempted (16).

"That was a great win for the Pirates. I thought we defended well and rebounded well. That's what won the game. Offensively their zone bothered us a little bit; we didn't shoot the ball very well. Up 21 with seven minutes to go, we kind of went through the motions a little bit. Overall, we did some good things particularly defensively. Jabari was great offensive rebounding, he had eight offensive boards. I thought Caleb (White) was good but he got in foul trouble in the first half and that hurt us. He's our best shooter out there but I thought Elijah (Hughes) came out there and it gave us a big lift as a freshman. He's a guy that we're going to count on shooting the ball from the perimeter. He was very frustrated after the first game but he was excited to have one go down in this one. That was a good team win for us."

"It was just game flow, getting after it on defense and translating it to offense. It's just all about confidence. Coach Lebo told me to keep shooting it and keep letting it fly and that's what I did."
